Fill My Cup
We often ask God to fill our cup although, in reality, our cup is very full. It is full of something or many things. How can He fill the cup if we aren't willing to let replacement of its contents be part of the process? Not every well-intended portion must be eliminated. But our self-righteousness and over-inflated view of our intellect can certainly take up space in our cup, that is meant for the expectancy of hearing God's direction. Prolonged sipping on our cup of unforgiveness or anger halts the flow of water that satisfies the soul. Slurps of assumption and conjecture conceal truth. Patiently waiting and watching for the flavors of peace and knowledge to slowly flow into our cup satisfies the thirst. Sour becomes sweet. A pleasing aroma fills the air as the contents are stirred for consumption. Our God of wisdom and power pours each measure with unconditional love.
