Mercy...On Its Way

A work is in progress. I've been researching the concept of showing and accepting mercy. Jesus said in Matthew 5: 7, "Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy." Extending mercy is so very easy at times. But then, there are the moments when emoting compassion and kindness is a struggle. Facing my own marred state of existence shakes my core and reminds me how much I must rely on God's mercy. The words of a powerful hymn resound in my mind.

"Years I spent in vanity and pride, Caring not my Lord was crucified, Knowing not it was for me He died on Calvary. Mercy there was great and grace was free, Pardon there was multiplied to me, There my burdened soul found liberty, At Calvary.

Oh, the love that drew salvation's plan! Oh, the grace that bro't it down to man! Oh, the mighty gulf that God did span at Calvary! Mercy there was great and grace was free, Pardon there was multiplied to me, There my burdened soul found liberty, At Calvary."

Thank you Lord Jesus for the compassion, kindness and mercy extended to me.
