Not Dislocated, But Rather Be Healed

Hebrews 12: 12, 13 "Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed." NKJV I enjoy Wesley's and Matthew Henry's commentary on these verses. But today the portion of the verse that stirs my spirit is the last two phrases. When one is lame is it a sad situation, all movement and tasks are difficult. Hindrances abound in accomplishing the job at hand. When we are without strength and scarcely able to walk spiritually, we are limited. How will we speak out for the Lord! Can we stand in His stead before believers and nonbelievers!

Every one of us lives through times of weariness or discouragement. Some are "unable to continue the combat", as Wesley suggests. But hope arises within each heart as we step forward on faith toward the direction given by the author to the Hebrews, "but rather be healed." The choice lies before us. Do I offer that dislocated limb to God's healing? Matthew Henry says it well, "a burden of affliction will dispirit and discourage him; but against this he must strive."
